Residents of Fountain Square are no strangers to the First Friday festivals that go on every month, and even as the cold weather sets in, locals still come out to support local businesses, the arts, and converse with a variety of individuals. This past First Friday in Fountain Square was no exception.
When most people think of First Friday events, they think about art, food, cocktails, and music. Realty is probably one of the last words to come to mind. However, FS Houses is working to change that, by joining in on the festivities opening their doors to First Friday participants. Last Friday, FS Houses hosted a small get together for the community, complete with free snacks, beer, and plenty of good conversation. While they are always happy to talk shop, FS Houses’ First Friday parties are a way to get to know individuals within the Fountain Square community, rather than focusing on realty. As a proud member of the neighborhood, FS Houses also displays artwork across their walls that visitors can enjoy and purchase to help support local Indy artists.
In addition to the party at FS Houses, the rest of Fountain Square was also celebrating. White Rabbit Cabaret hosted “Lloyd and Harvey’s Burlesque Ballyhoo”, the HiFi offered a free show to watch Sale Joseph and Manray perform, Fountain Square Brewery showcased 80 and 90’s themed music and artwork, and the DO317 Lounge featured Margaret White and the Aero Soul Project art collection, complete with a signature cocktail for sale. As usual, Heartland Films offered a free movie screening and the Wheeler Arts Center held a Holiday Pop Up Exhibit. Local restaurants and bars offered their usual First Friday specials, as well.
Indianapolis has embraced the tradition of First Fridays (an event that began as a way to pay tribute to local artists) with different celebrations, parties, and deals occurring throughout all of the city’s major districts. Be sure to check out everything going on in the area on the next first Friday by visiting DO317’s First Friday event’s page.
While most venues will be skipping First Friday in January, due to New Years’ Eve, FS Houses will be back in the game in February, hosting another party for residents. If you’ve ever had a question about realty or houses in Fountain Square, this is a great opportunity to stop by and mingle with local residents. Even if you aren’t in the market for a new home, come in and meet the staff and join up with other Fountain Square residents to seek refuge from the cold, discuss local events, and enjoy a night out on the town. You can find FS Houses two doors down from Rocket 88 Doughnuts (where you should also pop in for doughnuts and music!).
